Pravalaguna can make class tell
Steve Hughes has a pick for the opener on day four of Killarney’s July Festival
Hurdling and bumpers make up Thurdsay’s card at Killarney. The classiest race comes right at the start of the fixture where a mare can take advantage of a drop in grade.
Killarney 2.25: Pravalaguna
This will be Pravalaguna’s first contest outside of graded/listed company since easily winning a beginners chase at Limerick over Christmas and Willie Mullins 7yo can make the most of this easier assignment.
The last time she ran at this level over hurdles also resulted in a victory, coming at the 2018 Punchestown Festival over this 2m4f trip. As recently as Easter she was placed in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse over fences and looked set to make a bold show again at Punchestown until falling four fences out.
Jumping has never been her forte so a return to hurdling today makes sense. Her record in small fields is good and she has no problem making the running, something she might well end up doing against just four other opponents.
Recommended bet:
1pt win – Pravalaguna – 2.25 Killarney – 11/4 Bet365, William Hill
