Newmarket Racecourse is really two racecourses in one, the Rowley Mile Course and the July Course, each used at different times of the year. While both are galloping courses, each has a style and personality of its own + separate facilities. The Rowley Mile Grandstand with it’s familar arch roof Grandstand is immediately recognisable by racegoers whilst the July Course is known for its summer garden party feel with it’s tented VIP marquees alongside the track and recently redeveloped facilities behind the main Grandstands.

THE ROWLEY MILE COURSE hosts the 2000 & 1000 Guineas Classics in May + the big autumn racing fixtures like The Cambridgeshire; a 3-day racing festival packed with top class racing, with a total of three Group 1 races, one Group 2 race and three Group 3 races. Champions Day and the Cesarewitch run on the Rowley Mile over 2 ½ miles.
Rowley Mile races up to 1¼ miles and July Course races up to 1 mile are run on a straight course.
THE NEWMARKET JULY COURSE hosts the July Festival, a 3-day summer racing extravaganza. The July course is 2 miles 24 yards long with a right handed bend halfway, the first mile being part of the Cesarewitch course, and the last straight, the Bunbury Mile. The July Course hosts the popular ‘Newmarket Nights’ evening meetings with headline musical acts taking center stage after the last race.

NEWMARKET JULY FESTIVAL & JULY COURSE FACILITIES
[divider slashed]
Considered the home of British horse racing for over 300 years, Newmarket boasts 2 racecourses: the Rowley Mile and the July Course. As it name suggests, the Newmarket July Festival is staged at the July Course. The July course has a special style and in 2007 a £10m redevelopment of the existing facilities at the July Course in Newmarket was completed, ensuring it’s position as a first-class sporting venue. Opened by Lester Piggott and Frankie Dettori, the changes were designed to improve the experience of racegoers, providing vastly improved facilities while maintaining the magical charm of the July Course at the heart of its popularity. The perimeter boundary behind the Newmarket Grandstand was extended, gaining expanded facilities space and overall crowd capacity. Redundant buildings behind the July Course Grandstands were removed to improve circulaton and accommodate new bars, catering outlets & toilets. Twin two-storey pavilions linked by a unique aerial walkway, provide al-fresco dining, bars, betting & toilets. The Newmarket July Course premier Restaurant also has a new stylish glazed conservatory.
