Ascot is famous as a world-class racecourse, conference and sporting venue and home of the Royal Ascot race meeting. Located 6 miles from Windsor, Ascot Racecourse was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 and is still in Royal ownership today. Up until 1945, the only racing that took place at Ascot Racecourse was the Royal Ascot meeting, but since 1945 many more racing fixtures including major races like the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes are run at Ascot Racecourse. When they’re not playing host to Royal Ascot in June, Ascot Racecourse has a full racing fixtures calendar, including the Qipco British Champions Day + supporting entertainment attracting a wide audience; from occasional racegoers on a fun day out, to serious racing aficionados. Ascot Racecourse however is best known for Royal Ascot, which Her Majesty The Queen attends every day. One of the highlights of this truly unmissable royal race meeting is the Royal Procession with HM The Queen in an open carriage making its way from the Golden Gates along the racecourse and into the Parade Ring at 2.00 pm each day. Ascot Racecourse is located 36 miles from London (a 50 minute drive), and 15 miles from Reading, near the junction between the A329 and A330. Access from M3 (Junc 3) and M4 (Junc 6) Frequent rail service from Waterloo to Ascot, station adjoins course.
Royal Ascot was restored to something like normality this year with crowds of around 12,000 allowed each day, but there was the traditional eight Group 1 contests to highlight the meeting spread across the five day fixture. As usual Tuesday had three of the top level contests. PALACE PIER...

Ascot selections Friday 18th June The expected rain has materialised and we now have going completely reversed from the first three days with soft ground prevailing. Our selections for Friday are with that in mind. We found a Surefire winner (advised 13/2) yesterday, with Nagano placed for the each-way...
Ascot selections Thursday 17th June Gold Cup day at Ascot and it comes amid uncertainty over the ground. There was less rain than expected overnight, so the going remains fast, but there is steady rain at the time of writing this morning with the prospect of further to come....
Ascot selections Wednesday 16th June Day Two at Ascot and the ground will be fast and a hot and sunny day in Berkshire. Lord North’s withdrawal robs us of a great duel with Love in the Prince of Wales, but we still have an excellent day with the Hunt...
Royal Ascot selections Tuesday 15th June Royal Ascot returns and with a crowd of around 12,000 expected, there should be at least some sort of return to the traditional atmosphere of the big meeting. As usual the opening day does not disappoint with three Group 1 contests providing the...
Not only in the same year as Royal Gait’s controversial disqualification, but on the very same day, came one of the most unusual finishes in Royal Ascot history. The maiden Ile De Chypre was all set to make all and land the concluding handicap. Jockey Greville Starkey had attempted...
One of the most impressive winners of the Gold Cup in recent memory was Royal Gait in 1988 – but his connections did not pick up the prize as the horse was sensationally disqualified for causing interference in the home straight to a weakening rival, before storming 5l clear...
