It is the final day of Glorious Goodwood and the penultimate day of the Galway Races in Ballybrit and still the racing comes. The traditional closing feature in Sussex is the Stewards’ Cup while there is also Group 2 action with the Lillie Langtry Stakes. At Galway the long-distance Galway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle is the feature.
GOODWOOD
1.50 Qatar Stewards’ Sprint Handicap
Jim Goldie’s Tommy G won this last year and is in off a lower mark this year and has to be respected, though Richard Hughes could have the answer here with Puds.
2.25 Qatar Summer Handicap
David Elsworth had a big win with Sir Dancealot earlier this week and his Desert Skyline has a live chance despite top weight. King’s Advice and Charles Kingsley are more fancied in the market.
3.00 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes
A good mix of 4yo horses and those from the classic generation and Manuela De Vega was good in the Oaks when finishing fourth and is the one to beat.
3.40 Unibet Stewards’ Cup
Nearly 30 horses will charge down the track in this 6f dash and favourite Khaadem is only three so may come unstuck against more seasoned horses like David Barron’s Gunmetal.
GALWAY
2.30 Galway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle
Great White Shark won for Jody Townend earlier in the Festival and now her brother Paul gets the chance to win on Willie Mullins’ horse. Mullins’ biggest challenge here may come from another of his horses, Eclat Des Mottes. Spades Are Trumps is another to consider for in-for trainer Gavin Cromwell.
