Side with Moon at Listowel
Steve Hughes has a selection for Tuesday’s feature at Listowel
A valuable handicap hurdle for 4yo’s and a good field too as you would expect for the money. An unexposed sort looks worth a bet.
Listowel 3.35: Top Moon
Despite only two outings over hurdles so far, Top Moon has shown plenty of ability already and trainer Joseph O’Brien has no doubt aimed him for this big pot all summer.
He was only narrowly beaten on debut in a Naas bumper and then was a good third on hurdling debut having been pitched straight into listed company. – the winner was one of the favourites for her novice at the Cheltenham Festival whilst the second went on to win a Grade 2 at Naas next time out.
The selection was bogged down on heavy going on his next start, but he justified short odds when winning with the minimum of fuss in a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan last month. It may well be that summer/autumn going will suit him better than the deeper stuff in winter and as such this could be his big chance at a major prize.
