Steve Hughes has a best bet for Punchestown on Wednesday
Willie Mullins looks set to have the big winner in the Gold Cup on Wednesday, but he can score in the handicap later on the card too.
Punchestown 7.10: Livelovelaugh
Having tried to turn Livelovelaugh into a stayer, Mullins reverts the 9yo to what could be his ideal distance of 2m4f.
He ran a stormer in the Grand National at Aintree, having flopped at the Cheltenham Festival, but his stamina gave out in a big way in the National having looked sure to take a hand in the finish turning for home. However his best run this season came over today’s distance at Leopardstown in a valuable contest at the Dublin Racing Festival.
He was left too much to do to catch the runaway winner Whisperinthebreeze that day, but is only 4lbs higher today. He has an excellent record at this track, having won a bumper here as a youngster and he was third in a big handicap in 2017. Provided his National run has not left his mark I fancy him to bag another big pot for the champion trainer.
Recommended bet:
1pt each-way – Livelovelaugh – 7.10 Punchestown – 8/1 William Hill, Boylesports (1/5 odds first 4)
