December 1 – Fairyhouse Winter Festival Day 2

Three Grade 1s are up for grabs on a packed day of racing at Fairyhouse and Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins will look to scoop the big pots once more in the form of the Royal Bond, the Drinmore and the feature Hatton’s Grace. Yesterday we picked Avenir D’Une Vie (4-1) and Assemble (16-1 advised) and as Fairyhouse is the only show in town today, let’s hope we have some more.

1.00 Foveros (16-1 EW)

This is a showdown between two Elliott runners, Abacadabras and Envoi Allen, but Mullins could well get in the frame with Foveros who comes here on the back of a win at Galway.

1.30 Fakir D’Oudaries (6-5)

This time last year Samcro would probably have been strong odds on but that one is now trying to rebuild a career that once promised so much. Joseph O’Brien is in good form and Fakir D’Oudaries was an impressive winner over fences on debut at Navan recently. Burrows Saint won the Irish National at today’s track and is remarkably still a novice for this, but it’s a tough task for him.

2.40 Penhill (8-1 EW)

Apple’s Jade seems to have peaked now and while Honeysuckle is a worthy favourite, the classy Penhill cannot be written off. He’s not always sound but only runs when he is and the price is too big to ignore.
