Sky Sports Racing on course at Southwell, Hereford and Wolverhampton

Sky Sports Racing brings live coverage from three tracks on Tuesday with every race available from 1.45pm. The card features a mix of juvenile contests on the all-weather, novice chases and handicaps at Southwell, and a competitive staying hurdle division at Hereford.

Wolverhampton (evening highlight)

The Sky 415 Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton (6.00pm) carries interest in a couple of unexposed three-year-old fillies. Harry Charlton’s Juddmonte-trained Bella Angelina arrives with two runs under her belt, having shown promise when third on debut at Doncaster and again when just beaten on her next start. The filly has had a wind operation since her latest outing.

Saeed bin Suroor’s Soft Landing is another to note on form. She finished second on her debut after looking likely to win before tiring late, and the stable’s record of presenting forward horses suggests she could be competitive again if she builds on that first appearance.

Also engaged are Missmisfortune, who has experience in the book, and Blue Point Gold, the only debutant in the line-up, described as having an interesting pedigree.

Southwell (afternoon focus)

At Southwell the HEB Group Novices’ Handicap Chase (2.35pm) features Cheesy Icon making his chasing debut. Cheesy Icon was a progressive hurdler who did not manage to win over timber but has an opening chase mark of 116. Observers note that his tendency to free gallop could be a factor over fences, particularly if the pace is weak.

Ben Pauling’s Four Springs is one of the least exposed in the field and has been campaigned against decent opposition in novice hurdles. He was pulled up on his last start at Sandown and will need to bounce back, but connections consider him a likely chasing type with potential to improve.

Other runners include Marche D’Aligre, who can be prone to errors and so represents an unknown with fences for the first time; Jamada, progressive over hurdles for Olly Murphy; and Lady Kara, who brings experience and consistent form over fences.

Hereford (mid-afternoon feature)

The Betting.Bet Free Bets Handicap Hurdle (3.30pm) at Hereford brings together a competitive middle-distance handicap. Krak returns to hurdling for Dan Skelton after a spell over fences and is now racing off a mark that should give him a chance of being competitive back over timber, with Charlie Todd in the plate.

At ten years old Donnie Azoff has been notably consistent in recent seasons, rarely finishing outside the places across his last dozen runs. His stamina for around two and a half miles could be an asset here, having looked outpaced at shorter trips in his latest starts.

Sixty Plus, trained by dual-purpose handler James Owen, returns close to a previous winning mark and has dropped in the weights since his last success over obstacles. He arrives off a productive flat campaign that included a hat-trick and may be competitive on his jumping return. Son Of Hypnos and Jaramillo are also prominent in the entries; both have recent runs to their names but bring differing race patterns to the contest.

Other races of note

  • Southwell 2.00pm – Limerick Leader bids for continued good form in a tight-looking contest.
  • Southwell 3.10pm – A competitive 0-115 handicap chase over the same afternoon card.
  • Southwell 3.45pm – Promising bumper performer Masterius goes for a third-time-out breakthrough.
  • Southwell 4.20pm – A Kelton-trained bumper mare, Delulu, takes on recent winner L’Amandine.
  • Wolverhampton 6.30pm and 7.00pm – Juvenile maidens and a race featuring the progressive Zachary Hickes close the evening.

Coverage begins in the afternoon and runs through the evening, offering a mixture of all-weather flat racing and National Hunt action for punters and racegoers tuning in. The three venues provide a cross-section of racing interests from unexposed two-year-olds and novice chasers to seasoned hurdlers contesting handicaps.
