George Scott has opted to give his Havana Grey filly Efsixteen a measured break after her Newmarket success in May, with the Listed Visit Malta St Hugh’s Stakes at Newbury on Friday earmarked as her comeback assignment. The filly’s absence of more than three months is part of a deliberate plan to allow the youngster to strengthen before a busier second half of her juvenile season.
Scott reports there have been no setbacks during the spell and that Efsixteen has been schooled with an eye to making further progress as the campaign unfolds. He expects the run to sharpen her mentally after the long lay-off and wants to see her work on the track ahead of any more exacting targets later in the year.

Efsixteen’s return comes in a competitive Listed contest over the minimum trip, where she will be required to improve on her half-length success at Newmarket to hold her own.
