Michael Dods is planning to send his unbeaten juvenile Arapaho Gold to Newbury for the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes on September 19, with the Qatar Racing British Champions Day Two-Year-Old Conditions Stakes at Ascot a potential autumn target thereafter.
The Bayside Boy colt has progressed through the two-year-old ranks this season, completing a hat-trick that included victories at Thirsk and the Rose Bowl at Newbury in mid-July before stepping up to Group Two level to take the Gimcrack Stakes at York.
Season plan shaped by gelding decision
Dods confirmed the gelding of Arapaho Gold has influenced the choice of end‑of‑season engagements. As a gelding, the colt is ineligible for certain late juvenile Group One contests such as the Middle Park Stakes, and connections are therefore focusing on the Mill Reef at Newbury and the juvenile race on Champions Day at Ascot as their principal targets.
