Goodwood Racecourse is a Flat Racing course, nestled in an attractive setting overlooking the Sussex Downs with views to the Solent and the Isle of White. Located 5 miles north of Chichester in West Sussex, Goodwood Racecourse is run by the family of the Duke of Richmond, whose family ‘seat’ is situated nearby at Goodwood House.
The 5-day Glorious Goodwood meeting is one of the highlights of the UK Summer flat racing scene, when such diverse races as the Sussex Stakes, Nassau Stakes, Goodwood Cup and the Stewards’ Cup with it’s traditional ‘Cavalry Charge’ are run in front of a packed crowd of racegoers.
The Goodwood course is a right-handed loop, very undulating in nature, with sharp turns. The 5 furlong course is all downhill and one of the fastest in the country. High numbers best in big fields, though a quick start is essential.
