Bryony Frost’s attempt to win the Galway Plate on gallant top weight Black Corton just came short as Borice won for Gordon Elliott and Luke Dempsey. Meanwhile at Goodwood on Wednesday, Too Darn Hot gave Frankie another bg win in the Sussex Stakes. Thursday sees the Galway Hurdle in Ballybrit while the Glorious Group 1 fare sees nine horses battle it out in the Nassau Stakes.
2.25 Qatar Richmond Stakes
This Group 2 race sees several of the contenders in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot face each other again with Threat, second in that race and Symbolize, who was fourth, the fancied pair.
3.00 Qatar Gordon Stakes
Aidan O’Brien’s Constantinople ran well at Royal Ascot and is clear favourite here, but some of the French form from the likes of Jalmoud and Technician could prove crucial.
3.35 Qatar Nassau Stakes
Dual Guineas winner Hermosa bids to add this Group 1 prize but the competition could well be fierce from her eight rivals with Mehdaayih (pictured) and Maqsad both having claims on their best form while the O’Brien filly could also face challenges from France (Channel) and Japan (Deirdre).
4.55 Guinness Galway Hurdle Handicap
Band Of Outlaws can give Joseph O’Brien and JP McManus a big win, although another McManus horse trained by the fast-improving O’Brien, Gardens Of Babylon, may be the biggest threat. Willie Mullins’ pair Shanning and Riven Light will also be respected while Hearts Are Trumps (McManus again) would be a popular winner for veteran Des McDonogh.
